Ceramic-on-Stainless Steel construction withstands chemicals, saltwater and temperatures up to 1000°F.

MASON CITY, IOWA (October 22, 2008) – Metalcraft today announced availability of Ceramic-on-Stainless Steel Bar Code Nameplates for UID marking in the most demanding military environments – withstanding exposure to harsh chemicals, saltwater and temperatures up to 1000°F.

Metalcraft’s Ceramic-on-Stainless Steel Bar Code Nameplates were developed in response to U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) suppliers’ demand for a UID product that withstands saltwater applications. These unique products are printed using ceramic ink on a thin ceramic layer that is fired and fused to a heat-resistant stainless steel substrate.

UID is a DoD mandate that requires a Unique Item Identifier (UII) to track items throughout their lifecycle – a challenge given the applications and environments of military assets.

Metalcraft has steadily expanded its products and services for Defense suppliers, offering four UID product families, two expedited ordering services and on-staff UID specialists with a detailed understanding of the DoD’s requirements.

“Metalcraft makes UID compliance easy and profitable,” said Doerfler. “Metalcraft can help DoD suppliers improve inventory management and asset tracking to realize a return on their investment in compliance.”

The Ceramic-on-Stainless Steel Bar Code Nameplates are available by calling 800-437-5283 to place an order or discuss UID compliance with an on-staff UID specialist.
