Lowry Announces Secure New Produce Traceability Solution

ORLANDO, FLORIDA October 24, 2008 – Lowry Computer Products today announced the launch of Secure Visibility, an inventory management and lot traceability solution for the produce industry. Focused on the grower, packer/shipper and retailers, trading partners can capture and share product traceability information in real-time. Built around GS1 BarCode and EPCglobal RFID standards, Secure Visibility provides a comprehensive set of mobility solutions that adheres to the Produce Traceability Initiative’s compliance plan for standard traceability for the entire produce supply chain.

Lowry’s set of Secure Visibility Solutions grew out of the produce industry’s product traceability initiatives. Working in step with industry leaders in establishing standardized food safety and quality certification programs- such as PMA, United Fresh, SQF (Safe Quality Food) 2000- Lowry has created a ‘track and trace’ lot traceability solution for growers, pack/shippers, distributors and retailers. Secure Visibility, which is built on Microsoft BizTalk Server R2, allows users to capture relevant information pertaining to the produce supply chain in real-time, using RFID or bar code. Once the data is captured, users have immediate visibility, allowing them to meet their responsibility in delivering fresh traceable food products from farm to fork.

“Secure Visibility is an ideal platform for the produce industry to initiate standards based track and trace”, commented Michael Lowry, President of Lowry Computer Products. “Lowry has developed a complete set of solutions built around GS1 BarCode and EPCglobal systems as well as the PMA Traceability Guide. An integrated traceability solution is critical to increased security and effectiveness in the produce supply chain. Secure Visibility can play a pivotal role in achieving this.”

Secure Visibility offers both case-level and pallet level produce traceability information for wholesalers, distributors and retailers via a web enabled system. The system has the capabilities to provide instant traceability records for a response to any suspected food-borne contaminations such as E. coli or salmonella or product recalls. Following the PMA’s Traceability Guide, Secure Visibility supports GS1 guidelines and handles critical data elements such as the GTIN (Global Trade Identification Number), lot number, pack date and country of origin.

Secure Visibility brings supply chain trading partners the assurance that critical produce distribution traceability data is readily available in the event of food-borne illness or a product recall.

Lowry is ready to help growers, packers/shippers and retailers meet their responsibility of delivering fresh traceability food products. Please visit securevisibility, to learn more about how Secure Visibility is the answer to delivering fresh traceable produce from farm to fork!
