“25% Travel Subsidy” for attending IntertechPira’s 3rd annual Plastic and Thin Film Photovoltaics conference

Recognising and responding to the current economic crisis IntertechPira have decided to offer a ‘Travel Subsidy’ of 25% on their forthcoming Plastic and Thin Film Photovoltaics conference, due to take place in Barcelona, Spain on 8th – 9th December 2008.

“When economic pressure is on, travel and training budgets are the first to be hit” says the event’s organiser, Senior Conference Producer, Rob Stead. “We recognise this is the case and don’t want you to miss out as a result. The PV sector is still strong, and the aim of this conference is to fuel further technology and business development, so the easier we can make it for you to attend, the better.” So, IntertechPira has decided to offer participants a ‘Travel Subsidy’ of a massive £250 to cover travel costs for visiting attendees.

While the world is suffering a globa economic meltdown, it’s not necessarily the case for PV. Good news from the US, combined with positive investment trends from large corporations and city investors have shown that PV is very much seen as a hand to steady the ship in these turbulent times.

The experts are predicting that PV demand will continue to exceed supply in 2009, which means there are strong growth opportunities in printed and thin film PV. However, there are still technical hurdles to overcome in helping thin film to increase market share, and plastic PV to augment its position in the ever-growing PV marketplace.

The programme will investigate in detail exactly which markets are showing potential, which areas are attracting investment, update on feed-in tarrifs and outline production capacity projections via presentations from Pira International and RISOE. Konarka and Dr Tim Bruton will tackle commercialisation for printed PV and evaluate this technology against other PV technologies.

With exclusive paper from Covalent Solar, and technical papers from Wake Forest University and Centre du Recherche Paul Pascal, amongst others, there is content for beginner and expert alike. Addressing issues of durability, efficiency and testing are key presentations from Steve Ransome Consulting, National Solar Energy Institute, DuPont Teijin, and Alcan Packaging.

PLUS! Register for the conference and get 25% discount on the pre-conference workshop: “Performance and energy rating standards for thin film and printed PV”, led by Loughborough University Senior Lecturer, Ralph Gottschalg.
